a choice

the difference is

i chose you.

and you?

you chose yourself

(yet again)

there is a layer

above my heart

that stills

when i meet you,

unguarded.

at stake -

our courage,

and

fatal

the comfort

we seek in

each other

uncanny

to feel

almost nothing

but yet

everything

as our worlds collided

our love

shining through

purer than

the orange sunset

we set out to see

everyday

and

sweeter

with your hands

cupping my face

and

our tongues chiseled

let me admit

jealous i am

as i write this

for you seek

comfort

in the known beauty;

for they have you

more than I ever will

you wonder if

there will be a time

when these poems

stop making sense?

to which I reply

i chose you

and you?

you chose yourself

(yet again)

and i?

would choose you

(yet again)
